Carrying out school dental check-ups

The dental services promote the dental health of children and adolescents with age-appropriate programs

In order to detect tooth damage and malpositions of teeth in children at an early stage, the statutory health insurance companies offer dental group prophylaxis for children and adolescents. The aim is to:

• to give children an awareness and sense of responsibility for the health of their teeth
• improve oral hygiene
• Detect and prevent dental diseases
• To inform parents and advise them on request.  

Group dental prophylaxis is carried out in crèches, kindergartens, schools and institutions for people with disabilities.

Group prophylaxis specialists, as well as dentists from the public health service or sponsored dentists are in action for this purpose.

This is a population medical measure. It cannot be claimed as an individual service.

The responsibility lies with the districts and independent cities.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

None for children, teenagers or their families.
