For children:

• up to the age of 6: six times, of which three in infancy (6th to the completed 9th month of life 10th to the completed 20th month of life 21st to the completed 33rd month of life)
• between 6 and 18 years: once every six months

For adults:

• from 18 years of age once a year
• some health insurance companies offer different benefits

The dental prophylaxis measures for adults include

• instruction on effective oral hygiene
• advice on how to reduce risk factors, and
• the removal of hard plaque and caries or irritants that can cause gingivitis.
