The commissioning of new evaporative cooling plants, cooling towers and wet separators is subject to notification, as are changes and decommissioning of plants and changes of operator.

As the operator of a new system, you are obliged to notify the competent authority of this system no later than one month after the first filling with service water. Existing installations had to be notified by 20 August 2018. In addition, changes to the installation and the decommissioning of an installation must be notified immediately, at the latest within one month. In the event of a change of operator, the new operator shall notify the competent authority of this change without delay, but no later than within one month.

The competent authorities are the immission control authorities of the Länder.

The notification is made electronically via the "Cadastre for the registration of evaporative cooling systems 42nd BImSchV - KaVKA".

This administrative service does not constitute an administrative act. For this reason, no legal remedy results.

The notification is made via the "Register for the registration of evaporative cooling systems 42nd BImSchV - KaVKA" .

In order to display a plant, registration in the KaVKA-42.BV system is first required. After successful registration, the master data of the workplace (the location of the plant) and the plant can be recorded and the notification can be transmitted to the competent authority.

The operator of a new installation shall notify the competent authority of the installation no later than one month after the first filling with service water.

Changes to the installation, the decommissioning of the installation and changes of operator shall be notified without delay, but at the latest within one month.
