A recurring inspection of certain systems or components of systems in potentially explosive atmospheres can be dispensed with by an elaborated and tested maintenance concept.

Periodic inspections of certain systems or components of systems in potentially explosive atmospheres may be dispensed with if the employer has defined a maintenance concept as part of the documentation of the risk assessment. This must also ensure that a safe condition of the system is maintained and that explosion safety is permanently guaranteed.

The suitability of the maintenance concept shall be assessed as part of an examination. The work and measures carried out on the plant within the framework of the maintenance concept must be documented and presented to the authority on request.

Responsibility lies with the regional councils.

A maintenance concept that ensures that a safe condition is maintained and explosion safety is permanently guaranteed makes it possible to dispense with periodic inspections for certain systems or components of installations in potentially explosive atmospheres in the case of installations or components of installations in potentially explosive atmospheres.
