You can have your previous vocational training credited to your training period.

This shortens your training time.

The following vocational training courses can be credited:

• attendance at a vocational school,
• a vocational preparation measure (e.g. vocational preparation year, basic vocational training year).

Credit will only be granted if you submit an application together with your training company.

The federal states have different regulations for crediting. If a federal state has not made any legal provisions on this, the competent authority will decide on a case-by-case basis whether your previous vocational training will be credited.

• Proof of vocational training, for example through:
  • Diploma
  • Certificate

• Vocational training

Together with your training company, you submit an application for recognition of your previous vocational training.

The competent chamber shall decide:

• whether your previous vocational training is taken into account,
• whether your training period will be shortened,
• which crediting period is taken into account.

You can also shorten your training period if you have a higher school leaving certificate or have already completed vocational training. In addition, you can shorten the training period if you have already gained professional experience in part-time jobs. If you have already acquired the skills and knowledge elsewhere, you can also apply for a reduction in the training period.

Each apprenticeship has a minimum training period that you must fulfill.
