Registering prostitution activities for the first time

Taking up an activity as a prostitute is only permitted if this activity has been registered in advance.

In principle, the city or municipal administration of the place that is to form the focus of the activity as a prostitute is responsible. In individual cases, the district or another city or municipal administration may be responsible.

• Proof of health advice (maximum 3 months old)
• Passport, identity card, passport substitute or ID card substitute (residence permit)
• If applicable, work permit

Planned commencement of work as a prostitute or prostitute if no registration has yet been made with another authority, including outside Hesse.

Objection and lawsuit.

Personal registration, if necessary by prior appointment. Personal consultation with the competent authority. If the conditions are met: Copy of the registration certificate.

Registration must be made before taking up work as a prostitute.

A maximum of five working days.

Consultation: 32 EUR
Issuance of the certificate of declaration: EUR 15 per certificate

Additional costs may be incurred for language mediation if the consultation cannot be conducted on German.

On request, a pseudonymised registration certificate (so-called alias name) can also be issued. The registration certificate (optionally the alias certificate) must be carried when working as a prostitute.

Persons from countries outside the EU must also regularly provide proof of eligibility to engage in paid employment or self-employment ("work permit"). In many cases, the consultation can also be conducted in your native language. You can also bring your own language mediator.
