Providing health advice for people working in prostitution
Description
The "Act on the Regulation of the Prostitution Industry and the Protection of Persons Working in Prostitution" (Prostitute Protection Act - ProstSchG) came into force nationwide on 1 July 2017.
It stipulates that health authorities offer confidential health advice. This includes information about sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, contraception, alcohol and drug use and provides an opportunity to reveal an existing predicament.
The consultation is the prerequisite for registering the activity with the municipality in which one is predominantly active.

Prerequisites
All persons working in prostitution must seek health advice in the health department.
It is the prerequisite for re-registering the activity with the municipality in which one is predominantly active.
Prostitutes who worked before 1 July 2017 must have received health advice by 31 December 2017.

How often do I need advice?
For persons over 21 years of age:
After initial registration every twelve months.
Transitional arrangements:
For a first registration by 31 December 2017, two years after the first health consultation, then every twelve months.
For persons between 18 and 21 years of age:
Every six months after initial registration.
The certificate of advice may also be issued to the alias assigned when registering the activity.

Prostitutes must carry the certificate of health advice when carrying out their activities.
