Inclusion in the foundation directory

The regional councils and the City of Frankfurt am Main maintain a central electronic information system on foundation information for foundations with legal capacity. Foundations without legal capacity can be included in the foundation information system on application.

The inclusion of foundations without legal capacity can be refused if there are justified doubts about their seriousness.

The following are entered in the foundation directory

• the name of the foundation
• the legal nature of the foundation
• the registered office of the foundation
• the purpose of the foundation
• the address of the foundation
• the bodies and persons authorized to represent the foundation and the nature of their power of representation
• the date of recognition,
• the competent supervisory authority.

If one or more of the above-mentioned details of a foundation change, it is obliged to inform the foundation authority (i.e. the locally responsible regional council or the City of Frankfurt am Main).

The register of foundations is kept by the regional councils, for foundations based in Frankfurt by the City of Frankfurt am Main. The application for inclusion in the list of foundations must be sent by post or e-mail to the locally responsible regional council or the City of Frankfurt am Main.

There are no costs or fees for entry in the foundation directory, which is published on the Internet.
