Further training centres for nursing professions - apply for state recognition

Continuing education institutions that wish to offer state-regulated continuing education in the following areas require state recognition:

• Ward, group and residential area management
• Senior Nurse
• Nursing service, facility and home management
• Practical instructions
• Hygiene
• Psychiatric care
• Intensive care and anaesthesia
• Surgical Service
• Oncological care and palliative care
• Palliative Care

The training courses offered must be based on an ordinance of the State of Hesse.

Your further education institution must be recognized by the Regional Council. Only then may you carry out the training according to the respective training regulation.

Since 01.01.2023, the Hessian State Office for Health and Care (HLfGP) has been responsible.

• Copies of professional certificates and further training certificates of managers and teachers
• Information about the premises in which you would like to set up the training centre (e.g. rental agreement or other planning documents)
• Cooperation agreements with institutions in which the practical training components take place

Online application procedure of the Point of Single Contact Hesse

Prerequisites for state recognition are:

• They must have sufficient professionally qualified managers and teachers.
• Your rooms must be large enough and equipped with the appropriate teaching and learning materials.
• In order to ensure practical training components, you must prove the following:
  • the cooperation
    • with a suitable hospital,
    • an outpatient nursing service or
    • an institution for the elderly or the disabled, and
  • the qualification of the practical instructors on site
• When conducting the courses, you must observe the provisions of the respective continuing education regulation.

Submit your application with all the necessary documents to the responsible regional council. Responsible is the regional council in whose local area of responsibility you would like to operate your further education institution.

for the processing of the application and the final decision: fees will be charged. Check with the competent authority.

Hint: The competent body must examine the recognition requirements separately for each training course because of the different training contents. Therefore, the costs for each training area are incurred separately.

The technical supervisory authority will regularly inspect your institution.
