Aircraft pilot license(s) - apply for conversion under Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011

    Description

According to EU Regulation 1178/2011, existing non-JAR-compliant pilot licenses (licenses according to LuftPersV or ICAO licenses) issued or recognized by an EU member state must be converted into a corresponding EU license by 8 April 2014 at the latest. This takes place after a conversion report (see "Nachrichten für Luftfahrer", issue NfL I 16/13).

National licenses according to JAR-FCL 1 or 2 German will be replaced by a Part-FCL license from 09.04.2014 on the first occasion - e.g. when a new type rating is issued.

    Contact point

To the responsible regional council in Darmstadt or Kassel.

The Regional Council of Kassel is responsible for the area of the Regional Council of Giessen.

    Required documents

The documents to be submitted depend on the respective license into which the conversion is to be made (see NfL I 16/13).

    Forms

Application forms can be found on the websites of the Darmstadt and Kassel regional councils.

    Deadlines

National and ICAO licenses can be maintained during a transitional period that ends on 08.04.2014. From 09.04.2014, however, these licenses must be converted to Part-FCL licenses in order to continue to operate aircraft registered in the EU. During the transitional period until 08.04.2014, national licenses can only be maintained, but not extended, renewed, expanded or otherwise changed without first converting the license into a Part-FCL license.
