Intermediary register (for insurance intermediaries and advisors as well as financial investment brokers)

Insurance brokers (Section 34d GewO) and insurance consultants (Section 34e GewO) as well as financial investment brokers (Section 34f GewO) with a corresponding license must be registered in a register of brokers kept by the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs). The scope of the license is also entered here.

In the case of financial investment brokers, their employees who are directly involved in advising and brokering must also be registered in accordance with Section 34f (6) GewO.

The Chamber of Industry and Commerce in whose district the applicant's registered office is or is to be located is responsible: Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Fulda, Gießen-Friedberg, Hanau, Kassel, Lahn-Dill, Limburg, Offenbach or Wiesbaden.

The Limburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Limburg) carries out the licensing and registration centrally for the central Hessian IHKs (Lahn-Dill, Gießen-Friedberg, Limburg).

The IHK Wiesbaden also carries out the licensing and registration for the IHK Hanau.

The fees for registration are between 25.00 euros and 35.00 euros.

In addition to registration, the IHKs are also responsible for issuing and examining licenses, revoking and withdrawing licenses.
