Navigating non-navigable waters - Authorisation

Hessen is not only at the centre of air and land transport, but also in the network of the most important European waterways.
In addition to the federal waterways, the Ginsheimer Altrhein from km 1.5 to its confluence with the Rhine has been designated as navigable in Hesse.

There is no possibility of authorisation to navigate non-navigable waters with motorised vessels.

However, any person may use natural flowing waters with small craft without their own motive power, unless special legal provisions or the rights of others preclude this.
