A mortuary passport is required for the transfer of a corpse abroad.
A mortuary passport is also required for the transfer of a corpse from Hesse to other federal states if their legislation requires a mortuary passport for the transport or burial of the body.

Procedure
The mortuary passport must be requested by the relative responsible for the funeral or by the undertaker responsible for the transport.
