Apply for a repair license plate

After the repair or adjustment of measuring instruments subject to the calibration obligation, their correctness must be checked and confirmed by recalibration. Especially in the case of stationary measuring instruments, the competent calibration authority is not able to calibrate the devices immediately. However, a so-called repair indicator allows continued operation until recalibration. Only repairers with a special authority may affix the mark.

• Certificates of proficiency for authorised personnel:
  • for the operator or responsible technical staff of the holding: proof of the master craftsman's examination or at least 5 years' experience in a relevant profession
  • for other employees: proof of the master craftsman's or journeyman's examination or at least one year of activity in a relevant profession
  • for maintenance personnel for electronic equipment (additional): proof of training at the relevant manufacturer

In order to be able to assess the application, further information and documents may be required as proof.

You are welcome to get your own impression of the application in advance without registering beforehand. To do this, use the simulation. Online application procedure of the Point of Single Contact Hesse

Companies that repair and adjust calibrated measuring instruments are eligible to apply. You must meet the following conditions:

• The company is equipped with the necessary facilities for repair and adjustment and the expert staff.
• These are devices that have been tested by the calibration authorities or (after consultation with the competent authority) certified by a neutral body.
   

Please apply for authorisation to use a repairer registration number on the prescribed form from the competent authorities.

• Please fill in the form completely and compile the necessary supporting documents.
• Submit the application documents.
• Your application will be examined. If this is approved, you will be granted the authorization and the repair mark with a certificate.

Recognition takes place immediately if all requirements are met.

The fees and expenses are based on the schedule of fees of the Calibration Costs Ordinance.
