The commercial register is public and accessible to everyone. An inspection of the register makes it possible, for example, to determine who is allowed to act for a company or what is the subject of a company.

The commercial register provides information on facts and legal relationships that are important for legal transactions in connection with companies registered there. The register contains, for example, the names of the persons authorised to represent a company in business transactions.

Commercial register information can be obtained for information purposes on site from the competent register court or free of charge online in the register portal of the federal states.

The joint register portal of the federal states is available on the Internet for inspection of the commercial register. There you have the possibility to search specifically for registered companies by entering keywords, to retrieve detailed information and also to receive the register content as a PDF document.
In addition, you can continue to inspect the commercial register during business hours in the competent register court and, if necessary, receive a certified copy there (subject to a fee).
