Register as a sole trader

As a merchant within the meaning of § 1 of the German Commercial Code (HGB), you must register for entry in the commercial register. You are obliged according to § 29 HGB and § 24 Ordinance on the Establishment and Management of the Commercial Register (HRV)

• Your company,
• the place ,
• the domestic business address of the establishment,
• Forename
• Surname and
• Enter your date of birth.

Furthermore, you should also specify the object of the company.

The application must be filed electronically in publicly certified form (Section 12 (1) of the German Commercial Code).
After successful registration, you will receive a registration message from the court.

The application for entry in the commercial register must be made to the court in whose district the trader's branch is located.

The management of the commercial register in Hesse is based on the local courts

concentrated. Jurisdiction does not always lie with the district court in whose district the trader concerned is established.

The cost of the procedure depends on the so-called goodwill. The fees for the registration, registration and publication of a registered merchant are currently around 200.- Euro.
