Which documents are required depends on the type and term of the payment facility.
If you are applying for an installment payment or deferral with a short term:

If you are applying for an installment payment or deferral with a longer term or another payment facility:

- Further documents about your financial situation, which may be requested from you by post. If you apply online, you will be asked to upload the required documents directly.
Prerequisites
- Immediate full settlement of your premium arrears would be associated with considerable hardship.
- The payment of your premium arrears is not jeopardized by the instalment payment or deferral.
- If you apply for remission or partial remission: Settlement of the premium arrears would be unreasonable.

Procedure
You can apply for payment relief online or by post to the Künstlersozialkasse.
Online application:
- Call up the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. This will guide you step by step through the necessary information, which you can enter electronically.
- Note: You will need a valid ELSTER certificate to log in to the online form. Alternatively, you can use your electronic ID document.
- You will need around 20 minutes to complete the online application.
- First enter your personal details, including your insurance number. You will find this on the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse in the top right-hand corner.
- On the next page, you can then select which application for payment facilitation you would like to submit.
- You must then provide information about your application and upload documents if necessary.
- Additional information is also possible.
Application by post:
- Let the Künstlersozialkasse know which payment facilitation you would like to apply for.
- In your informal letter, please suggest a monthly installment amount or a date for settling the arrears.
- Please also state your insurance number. You will find this in the top right-hand corner of the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse.
- Please respond to any queries as soon as possible.
At the end of the procedure, you will receive a notification by post.
