Adjusting the artists' social insurance subsidy for health and long-term care insurance

The Künstlersozialkasse (KSK) can only pay you the correct subsidy if it knows how high your contributions for private or voluntary statutory health and long-term care insurance are. You should therefore inform the KSK of any changes to your contributions.

As a self-employed artist or journalist, you are entitled to a subsidy from the Künstlersozialkasse under certain conditions. The subsidies relate to the contributions for your private or voluntary statutory health and long-term care insurance.

You may be entitled to these subsidies if you:

• are subject to compulsory insurance via the Künstlersozialkasse and
  • are exempt from the statutory health and long-term care insurance obligation or
  • do not have access to statutory insurance.

The amount of your subsidy depends, among other things, on the amount of your contributions to your

• private or
• voluntary statutory health and long-term care insurance.

The insurance companies determine the amount of the contributions.

The Künstlersozialkasse needs up-to-date information about your contributions to these insurances. Otherwise, the Künstlersozialkasse may calculate the amount of your provisional subsidy incorrectly.

When the Künstlersozialkasse issues its final annual statement of your subsidy, there may be additional payments or reclaims. By reporting the current details, you can avoid particularly high reclaims or additional payments.

You must submit the following documents:

• Copy of the notification of the new contribution amount of your private or voluntary statutory health and long-term care insurance. You will receive the notification from the respective insurance company.

• You are currently entitled to a subsidy from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• The contributions for your private or voluntary statutory insurance have changed.

  • Detailed information on how to lodge an objection can be found in the notice from the Künstlersozialkasse.

If the contributions to your private or voluntary statutory health or long-term care insurance change, you will receive a corresponding letter from your insurance company.
You can notify the Künstlersozialkasse of your changed contributions online or by post.

Online notification:

• Call up the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. This will guide you step by step through the necessary information, which you can enter electronically.
• Note: You will need a valid ELSTER certificate to log in to the online form. Alternatively, you can use your electronic ID document.
• You will need around 15 minutes to complete the online application.
• First enter your personal details, including your insurance number. You will find this on the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse in the top right-hand corner.
• On the next page, you will first receive general information.
• You can then enter more details about your changed contribution and upload the letter from your insurance company.
• The same applies to changes in contributions for family members who are also insured with you.

Notification by post:

• Fill out the PDF form "Notification for grant recipients about changes to health and long-term care insurance contributions" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• Please also state your insurance number. You will find this number in the top right-hand corner of the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• Please attach the letter from your insurance company about the change in the contribution amount to the PDF form.
• The same applies to changes in contributions for family members who are also insured with you.
• Print out the completed PDF, sign it and send your notification of change to the Künstlersozialkasse.

You will receive a written confirmation from the Künstlersozialkasse. If necessary, you will also receive a new contribution notification.

Please inform the Künstlersozialkasse immediately of any changes to your contributions for your private or voluntary statutory health and long-term care insurance.
