Notify the Artists' Social Security Fund of the termination of the artistic or journalistic activity

Has your self-employed artistic or journalistic activity changed in such a way that you no longer carry it out on a professional basis or do you have several employees? Then you can no longer be insured via the artists' social insurance fund.

The determination of compulsory insurance under the Artists' Social Insurance Act is always based on the information and documents you have provided on your self-employed artistic or journalistic activity in the determination procedure.

If the scope of your activity is reduced or if you employ several people on a dependent basis, the Künstlersozialkasse must check whether your insurance obligation has ended.

• In principle, you are subject to compulsory social insurance for artists or are entitled to a subsidy.
• You are self-employed as an artist or journalist:
  • given up,
  • interrupted or
  • restricted it to a scope that is no longer gainful

or

• you employ more than one person in connection with your artistic or journalistic activity. Apprentices and marginally employed persons are excluded.

You can submit your request online or by post.

Online notification:

• Call up the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. This will guide you step by step through the necessary information, which you can enter electronically.
• Note: You will need your electronic ID document to register for the online form.
• It will take you about 15 minutes to complete the online form.
• First enter your personal details, including your insurance number. You will find this in the top right-hand corner of the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• On the next page, select your request.
• When you make your selection, you will receive general information about your request.
• You then provide more detailed information about your request and upload any required documents.

Notification by post:

• If you would like to notify us of the cessation of your gainful artistic or journalistic self-employment in connection with the commencement of dependent employment, please complete the PDF form "Notification of the commencement/termination of dependent employment" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• If you would like to notify us of the cessation of your gainful artistic or journalistic self-employment in connection with the receipt of unemployment benefit I, unemployment benefit II or citizens' allowance, please complete the PDF form "Notification of the receipt/end of receipt of unemployment benefit I (ALG I)/unemployment benefit II (ALGII)/citizens' allowance" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• If you wish to notify us that you are giving up your gainful artistic or journalistic self-employment in connection with taking up a course of study, please complete the PDF form "Notification of taking up/termination of studies" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• If you wish to notify us that you are giving up your gainful artistic or journalistic self-employed activity in connection with the commencement of a self-employed non-artistic or non-publishing activity or the registration of such a business, please complete the PDF form "Notification of the commencement of a self-employed non-artistic/non-publishing (secondary) activity" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• If you would like to notify us of the termination of your self-employed artistic or journalistic activity in connection with parental leave, please complete the PDF form "Notification of termination of activity due to parental leave" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• If you would like to notify us of the cessation of your gainful artistic or journalistic self-employment in connection with the receipt of a pension, please complete the PDF form "Notification of the receipt of a pension from the statutory pension insurance scheme" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• If you wish to notify the Artists' Social Insurance Fund that you are giving up your gainful artistic or journalistic self-employment for other reasons or that you are employing several workers, please inform the Artists' Social Insurance Fund informally.
• Please always include your insurance number. You will find this number in the top right-hand corner of the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• Sign your informal notification or the printed PDF form and enclose the required documents.
• Send everything together to the Künstlersozialkasse.

Please answer any queries from the Künstlersozialkasse immediately.
The Künstlersozialkasse will check your details and inform you by post of the specific date on which your compulsory insurance ends.

Notify us immediately if you give up your self-employed artistic or journalistic activity or employ more than one person on a dependent basis.
