Notify the Künstlersozialkasse of pension withdrawals

Do you receive a pension from the statutory pension insurance? Then this has an effect on your insurance status in the artists' social insurance.

As a person who is subject to compulsory insurance via the Artists' Social Security Fund (KSK), you can apply for a pension from the relevant pension insurance institution. You must meet the requirements for this.
The relevant pension insurance institution will inform you of the exact requirements for a pension. After your application, the pension insurance institution will check the requirements. At the end of the procedure, you will receive a decision on your application.

If you receive a pension, your previous insurance obligation with the Künstlersozialkasse may change:

• If you receive a standard old-age pension ("normal" pension), your previous obligation to pay into the pension insurance scheme ends. Exception: You expressly apply to continue paying pension insurance contributions.
• If you receive a full pension due to old age or full reduction in earning capacity, your statutory health insurance contributions will be reduced. This is because the pension means you are no longer entitled to sickness benefit.
• If you receive a full pension and change it to a partial pension or vice versa, this may also have an impact on your compulsory insurance and the amount of your contributions to statutory health insurance.

• You receive a pension from the statutory pension insurance scheme or have applied for such a pension.
• You continue to work as an artist or journalist on a professional basis.

Not all pension payments have legal consequences. If there is a change with legal implications, you can find detailed information on how to lodge an objection in the notice from the Künstlersozialkasse.

You can inform the Künstlersozialkasse online or by post about your pension application or pension entitlement. The same applies if there are any changes to your pension.

Online notification:

• Call up the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. This will guide you step by step through the necessary information, which you can enter electronically.
• Note: You will need your electronic ID document to register for the online form.
• It will take you about 15 minutes to complete the online form.
• First enter your personal details, including your insurance number. You will find this on the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse in the top right-hand corner.
• On the next page, select the topic you would like to tell us about.
• By selecting this option, you will receive general information on the subject of pensions.
• Then select your specific request and provide more detailed information.
• If available, you can upload the necessary supporting documents.

Notification by post:

• If you have applied for a pension, please inform the Künstlersozialkasse informally first.
• Submit a copy of the pension certificate to the Künstlersozialkasse as soon as possible.
• To do this, fill in the PDF form "Notification of receipt of a pension from the statutory pension insurance scheme" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse.
• If you already receive a pension and your pension entitlement changes, please inform the Künstlersozialkasse informally about the nature of the change. You do not have to notify the (annual) pension adjustments.
• Please always state your insurance number. You will find this in the top right-hand corner of the letter from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• Sign your informal notification or the printed PDF form and enclose the required documents.
• Send everything together to the Künstlersozialkasse.

Please answer any queries from the pension insurance provider and the Künstlersozialkasse immediately.
At the end of the procedure, you will receive a notification from the Künstlersozialkasse by post.

Please inform the Künstlersozialkasse immediately about your pension application.
