    If your company clears fresh bananas for free circulation, you can only issue the necessary weighing certificates yourself with a customs authorization.

    Description

    If you are clearing fresh bananas under CN code (Combined Nomenclature) 0803 90 10 for free circulation in the territory of the European Union, you must be in possession of a weighing certificate (form 0380) when submitting the customs declaration. The weighing certificate may only be issued by authorized weighers.
    For authorization as an approved weigher, you must submit an electronic application via the EU Trader Portal accessible on the customs portal.

    Please enclose the following documents with the application:

    • Parts I to III and V of the questionnaire for customs authorizations
      • Authorized economic operators (AEO) do not need the questionnaire
    • "Supplementary sheet national data"
    • Sample of the records of the weighings

    The documents must be sent directly to the competent main customs office with reference to the application number generated by the EU Trader Portal.

    Prerequisites

    • they have not committed serious or repeated infringements of customs and fiscal legislation or serious criminal offenses in the course of their economic activity.
    • You are involved in the import, transportation, storage or handling of fresh bananas falling within CN code 0803 90 10 subject to import duties.
    • They have an EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification number).
    • They offer the necessary guarantees for the proper execution of weighing.
    • They have suitable weighing equipment:
      • calibrated scales with an accuracy of 2 decimal places
    • They keep records that enable the customs authorities to carry out the necessary checks.

    Procedure

    • If you wish to apply for authorization as an authorized weigher, you must submit the application electronically via the EU Trader Portal.
    • To access the EU Trader Portal, you need
      • a business customer account of the customs portal. Here you can store and manage your certificates for access to the applications in the EU Trader Portal and navigate to the EU Trader Portal. If you do not yet have a business customer account, you must first register in the customs portal. To do this, you will need an ELSTER certificate based on your company's current tax number. Once you have identified yourself with ELSTER, you can use the Customs Ident app to log in in the same way.
      • an EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification number). If you do not yet have an EORI number, you must apply for one in your user account in the customs portal. The user account gives you access to the "EORI number administration" and you can apply for a new EORI number.
    • Log into the business customer account of the customs portal with your access data.
    • Call up the "EU Trader Portal and CBAM Portal" service.
    • If you have not already done so, register for the service and upload the certificates. You can then use the service and navigate to the EU Trader Portal from there.
    • Complete and submit the application for the authorization type "AWB - status of authorized weigher of bananas (AWB)".
    • Send the "Additional sheet of national data", the corresponding records of the weighings and, if applicable, Parts I to III and V of the questionnaire for customs authorizations directly to the competent main customs office with reference to the application number generated by the EU Trader Portal.
    • If the main customs office has successfully checked whether all authorization requirements have been met, an authorization will be issued electronically in the EU Trader Portal.
    • If the requirements are not met, you will receive an electronic notification of rejection of the application in the EU Trader Portal.
