Receive confirmation of vacation job placement for foreign students

If you would like to employ foreign students or vocational students as part of a vacation job in Germany, the Federal Employment Agency can support you in your search for suitable applicants.

Students and vocational students who are enrolled abroad can do a vacation job in Germany during the semester break.

As an employer, you can employ them wherever you need them, for example

• in the kitchen,
• in service,
• in agriculture,
• on the assembly line or
• in building cleaning.

The Federal Employment Agency can help you to fill vacancies for vacation jobs by placing vacation jobs with foreign students. Your contact for all matters relating to the employment of foreign students and vocational students is the International Placement Services of the Federal Employment Agency.

If all requirements are met, the Federal Employment Agency will issue a confirmation of placement for the vacation job.

If contact is established between you and the student or specialist student without the involvement of the Federal Employment Agency (e.g. through a private placement agency):

• Form "Declaration of enrollment certificate"
• Declaration on the employment relationship (EzB)
• Original certificate of enrolment from the foreign university or technical college in German or English, with additional translation into German or English for other languages
• Copy of the applicant's passport

If the Federal Employment Agency has established contact between you and the student or vocational student

• Declaration of employment (EzB)

In order for students or vocational students from abroad to be allowed to work in your company, they must

• be enrolled at a university or technical college abroad,
• complete the vacation job when there is an official vacation at the location of their foreign university or technical college and
• comply with the maximum possible employment period of 90 days within 12 months.

No legal remedies are provided for.

If you would like to be placed by the Federal Employment Agency, proceed as follows:

• Go to the website of the Federal Employment Agency, download the form "Job offer for a vacation job in Germany" and fill it out. The Federal Employment Agency will suggest suitable applicants.
• Once you have finally decided on an applicant, fill out the application form "Ferienbeschäftigung für ausländische Studierende, Fachschüler/innen" in duplicate.
• Also complete the form "Declaration of employment".
• Send the completed forms to the International Placement Services of the Federal Employment Agency. Please note that your application can only be processed if you have completed the forms in full and submitted the application form "Ferienbeschäftigung für ausländische Studierende, Fachschüler/innen" in duplicate.
• The Federal Employment Agency will check your documents and certify your intended vacation employment if all requirements are met.

If you have already made personal contact with a student, proceed as follows:

• Go to the website of the Federal Employment Agency, download the form "Ferienbeschäftigung für ausländische Studierende, Fachschüler/innen" and fill it out in duplicate.
• Also complete the form "Declaration of employment".
• Forward the form "Declaration of enrolment certificate" to your future vacation employee so that the university or technical college can complete this form. In addition, we require an original certificate of enrollment issued by the university or technical college in German or English, alternatively with a translation.
• Send the completed forms together with a copy of the applicant's passport to the International Placement Office of the Federal Employment Agency.
• Please note that your application can only be processed if you have completed the forms in full and submitted two copies of the "Application form for vacation employment for foreign students and vocational students".
• The Federal Employment Agency will check your documents and certify your intended vacation employment if all requirements are met.

Alternatively, you can apply for vacation employment via the website of the Federal Employment Agency.

• Go to the website of the Federal Employment Agency.
• Fill out the forms "Application form "Vacation employment for foreign students, vocational students" and "Declaration of employment" online and save these forms.
• The company stamp and signature are not required for electronic applications.
• Upload the application form and the following documents to the "Upload Service" of the Federal Employment Agency:
  • Declaration of enrollment certificate
  • Copy of passport
  • Certificate of matriculation
  • Translation, if necessary, if certificate of enrolment is not available in German or English
• To be able to use the upload service, you must be logged in with your user account. If you do not have a user account, you must register once.
• Then send the original certificate of enrollment to the Federal Employment Agency.

The Federal Employment Agency will check your documents and certify your intended vacation employment if all requirements are met.

You do not have to observe any deadlines.
