Requesting information from the radiation protection register about personal data on occupational radiation exposure
You can obtain information about the data on occupational radiation exposure stored in the radiation protection register from the Federal Office for Radiation Protection.
Description
The Radiation Protection Register is a central federal institution and is operated by the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS). It
- collects data on occupational radiation exposure throughout Germany,
- monitors compliance with limit values,
- monitors the issue of radiation passports and
- issues the radiation protection register number (SSR number).
The Radiation Protection Register thus fulfills a legal task laid down in the Radiation Protection Act.
You can obtain information from the Radiation Protection Register (SSR) if you:
- belong to persons or organizations that require this information for the performance of their tasks
- are an affected person yourself
The following information is stored in the radiation protection register
- Radiation protection register number (SSR number)
- Personal data:
- First name
- Family name
- Surname at birth
- Place of birth
- Date of birth
- Employment characteristics and exposure ratios
- Company number of the employing company
- Name and address of the person responsible for radiation protection and other obligated and responsible persons
- Details of a valid radiation pass, if applicable
- Details of the competent authority
- the body dose determined as a result of occupational exposure, including the exposure conditions
Information from the Radiation Protection Register (SSR) is subject to a fee. No fees are charged in the following exceptional cases:
- Information to competent authorities if the information is necessary for the performance of the authority's duties
- Information to statutory accident insurance institutions if the information is required to check a benefit claim
- Information to private individuals within the scope of the right to information of affected persons

Procedure
- To apply online for information from the radiation protection register, you must first register.
- If you are a company or public authority, use your "My company account" and identify yourself with your ELSTER organization certificate.
- If you are a private individual, use your BundID account and identify yourself with your ELSTER certificate or with the online ID function of your ID card.
- Once you have successfully logged in, you can enter the information required for the application.
- You will receive the relevant information after a processing time of up to 2 weeks without additional research or up to 4 weeks with additional research directly in your mailbox from your "My business account" or your BundID account.
- You will be informed by e-mail when documents are received in your electronic mailbox.
