Apply for recognition for radon measurements in the workplace
If you want to provide and evaluate devices for legally required measurements of radon activity concentration at workplaces, you must be recognized by the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS).
Description
The Radiation Protection Act regulates at which workplaces in Germany the radon activity concentration must be measured. Such an obligation exists in radon precautionary areas at workplaces in basements or first floors as well as nationwide in work areas already known to have elevated radon concentrations, such as waterworks, mines or radon healing tunnels. The responsible state authorities can also order measurements at other workplaces.
Providers who wish to carry out the legally required measurements of radon activity concentrations at these workplaces must be recognized by the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS). Recognition serves to ensure the quality of the measurements.
The documents and evidence submitted together with the application for recognition are checked by the BfS. If the requirements are met, the provider is recognized. Recognition is subject to a fee and is valid for an unlimited period. However, it can be revoked or withdrawn if the requirements are no longer met. Recognition is not transferable.
