Why electromobility?
Electromobility - that means driving with electricity instead of petrol. Electric vehicles are very efficient, clean, powerful and suitable for everyday use. If electricity from renewable energy sources is used, this form of mobility is virtually climate-neutral and therefore makes an important contribution to environmental protection.
For densely populated areas in particular, electromobility is a way of making transport more sustainable by reducing traffic noise and pollutants.
In addition to cars, local buses can also be equipped with an electric drive and bicycles can be powered by electricity.
The aim is for more electric cars to be used - both privately and by companies. To achieve this, it is important that the charging infrastructure is continuously expanded. Under the motto "Electricity moves", the state is therefore funding scientific projects, installing charging stations at public properties and incentivising the use of electric vehicles. With the funded projects, Hesse is contributing to the federal government's ambitious goal of putting one million electric cars on the road by 2020.
Further information on types of electric mobility can be found on the website of the "Strom bewegt" initiative.
