The major trends in rural tourism include slowing down, regionality, authenticity and sustainability. The longing for unspoilt nature, rural idylls and a "sense of home" is increasing and is being used specifically for professional marketing strategies. In this respect, there is fundamental potential to support Hessian destinations in their endeavours as tourist destinations.

At the centre of rural tourism marketing are regionally defined core themes (e.g. the forests of North Hesse, Ahle Wurscht, Rhön sheep, red Riesling), which are able to convey the core messages of the 11 Hessian tourism destinations

  • Rhön
  • Vogelsberg
