The energy transition in Hesse has picked up speed. According to surveys by the German Wind Energy Association (BWE), 75 new wind turbines with a total output of 207.7 megawatts were installed in Hesse last year. "For the second time in a row, we have managed to break the 200 megawatt barrier. 2015 was a good year for the energy transition in Hesse," said Economics and Energy Minister Tarek Al-Wazir. As a result, Hesse moved up from 9th to 7th place in terms of newly installed Service among the federal states. "We are on a race to catch up. Last year, we left Rhineland-Palatinate and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerenia behind us for the first time in terms of new wind turbine construction."
