Renewable energies - Regional planning
Which areas will be designated for wind turbines?
Hesse wants to designate areas in the order of 2 per cent of the state's land area as a priority for the use of wind energy. One wind turbine requires an area roughly the size of half a football pitch in the long term. With the approval of the state parliament, the state government amended the state development plan accordingly in 2013. On this basis, the regional planning assemblies at Governmental district level must determine the priority areas for wind energy.
The current status of the energy sub-regional plans:
North Hesse
- The 2nd publication (consultation/participation procedure) of the draft of the functional energy sub-regional plan took place from 16 March to 15 May 2015.
- Currently, 32,000 comments from the public are being analysed. The regional assembly is expected to make a decision by summer 2016.
Central Hesse
- The 2nd public consultation took place from 7 September to 6 October 2015.
- The comments are currently being analysed.
South Hesse
- The comments from the 1st public consultation are still being analysed.
- The regional assembly will then decide on the 2nd public disclosure.
