Noise protection

Noise protection refers to all measures taken to protect against noise that is a significant nuisance or a health hazard. The legal regulations on noise protection serve to balance the interests of those responsible for noise and those affected.

In the context of noise protection, a distinction is made between aerodromes, roads and railways, commercial and industrial facilities and sports and leisure facilities as types of noise sources. For each of these noise source types, there are different immission limit values or immission guide values depending on the type of area.

Neighbourhood noise, which is caused by private parties, music and singing or gardening and manual work, as well as noise in the workplace and on public transport is subject to different legal regulations.
