Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing (HMWEVW)

In the period from 2012 to 2016 alone, the state is providing around 6.8 million euros in funding for offers that make electromobility visible and tangible. The overview of activities shows just how wide the range of projects supported is. From 2016, the commitment will be further strengthened by the establishment of an electromobility office, among other things.

The overview briefly presents some of the previous and current projects. Detailed information on the initiative can be found on the"Strom bewegt - Elektromobilität in Hesse" website.

The state administration is leading the way

The state has already funded over 85 e-vehicles for its administration, thus ensuring broad visibility. In addition, charging points are continuously being installed at state buildings.

Fewer emissions at the airport

The "E-Port AN" project aims to reduce ground emissions at Frankfurt Airport and uses various approaches to achieve this, such as electric taxiing and towing of aircraft. The project, which is supported by the Lufthansa Group, Fraport AG, the State of Hesse and the Rhine-Main Electromobility Model Region, is the winner of the GreenTec Award 2014 and has been awarded the title of "Lighthouse" by the German government.

Companies in focus - the "eFlotte" pilot project

For two weeks, small and medium-sized companies were able to integrate an electric car into their own company fleet free of charge, test it in everyday operations and "experience" the benefits of electromobility under real-life conditions.

Electromobility on the curriculum

The "e-mobil+" training offensive from the Hessian State Office for Technology Training in Groß-Gerau provides vocational school teachers in the field of vehicle technology with the necessary background knowledge on electromobility. The aim is to establish the topic more firmly in Hessian vocational schools and to awaken pupils' enthusiasm for the technology.

The trade eMobile on the road

"First! The skilled trades drive eMobil" is the title of the project in which skilled trades companies from Wiesbaden and Frankfurt am Main that have leased or purchased an electric vehicle were able to receive a grant. The project was implemented in cooperation with the business development agencies and chambers of crafts in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden.

Networking science

Aspects of electromobility are being investigated at several universities in State of Hesse - programs run by the state bring the relevant players together. The "Hessian Graduate and Continuing Education Program" aims to pool the knowledge of various scientific institutes that is needed to implement electromobility. To this end, a networked teaching platform is being set up using a video conferencing system. The project partners are the universities of Giessen, Marburg, Kassel and Darmstadt as well as the Rhine-Main University of Applied Sciences. The "Well2Battery2Wheel" research project is investigating the integration of automotive batteries into smart grids. Fraunhofer LBF, Fraunhofer IWES and Justus Liebig University Giessen are working together on this project. Another university project is a study by the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, which is providing scientific support for the state's procurement program, the craftsmen's project and the local authority project and developing recommendations for action.
