The Hessian Timber Construction Prize
In 2015, the Hessian Timber Construction Prize was awarded in equal parts to the speech therapy school in Kiefernwäldchen in Griesheim near Darmstadt, the Seeheim-Jugenheim sports hall and the extension to the European School in Frankfurt. The projects impress on the one hand with their successful architecture and on the other with their exemplary use of wood as a building material. The speech therapy school at Kiefernwäldchen was designed by Darmstadt-based Ramona Buxbaum Architekten, the Seeheim-Jugenheim sports hall by Loewer + Partner Architekten (Darmstadt) and the extension to the European School in Frankfurt by NKBAK Architekten from Frankfurt.
The €6,000 award was presented jointly by the Hesse Ministry of Economics, the Hesse Ministry of the Environment, the Hesse Carpentry Association, the Hesse Chamber of Architects and Town Planners, the Hesse Chamber of Engineers and the Kompetenzzentrum HessenRohstoffe (HeRo) e.V. (Hesse Raw Materials Competence Centre).
