Foreign trade

Hessian companies are successfully active in markets around the world. They generate more than 50 per cent of their sales abroad. Their products are currently in particular demand in the newly industrialising countries. For Hessen's strong service sector, tapping into new foreign markets is without alternative - one example is the financial centre of Frankfurt as a hub for international financial services. At the same time, Hessen is an attractive destination for branches of foreign companies. If these international investments are set in relation to the number of jobs, then Hessen has the largest number of all the federal states.

The aim of foreign trade promotion is to support Hessian companies in opening up new foreign markets and developing their international markets. One focus here is on the requirements of small and medium-sized companies. These companies can utilise the financial assistance provided by the trade fair promotion, foreign trade advisory support and extended start-up and growth financing. The Business Development Advisory Centre of WI-Bank Hessen and - locally - the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, the Chambers of Skilled Crafts and the Chambers of Liberal Professions provide advice on applying for funding under these programmes.

Delegations, co-operation exchanges and information events are important instruments for foreign trade. The network of correspondents of the state of Hesse offers Hessian companies targeted support in selected countries. They are also contacts for foreign companies interested in Hessen as a business location.

The Hessen Business Portal offers you a comprehensive collection of data in German, English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, which can be used to prepare investment decisions professionally. Information and downloads on Brexit can be found on the website of the Hessian Ministry of Economics.
