Electricity/gas and water prices - General information
Securing a favourable level of energy and water prices in Hesse is a key economic policy concern of the Hesse state government. It has successfully campaigned in the Bundesrat for competition-orientated energy industry legislation and makes intensive use of legal instruments to control water prices as well as electricity and gas network charges.
The sharp rise in world market prices for oil and gas has also led to price increases on the national markets. Energy prices in Hesse cannot be completely decoupled from this development either. However, the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport, Transport, Transport and Housing is making full use of its powers as an energy regulator and cartel supervisory authority to achieve the most favourable prices possible for energy and water consumers. Overall, this has led to a comparatively moderate price trend for electricity and gas in Hesse to date.
The development of energy prices in recent months has raised numerous questions from citizens and Companies, which we have compiled the following information to answer.
