The modernisation of the administration has already profoundly changed the structure of tasks and authorities in all areas of Hesse's administration. In coping with this major challenge, continuous professional development and the personal development of all state employees are becoming increasingly important.
Cross-departmental training courses are organised by the Central Training Department in the state of Hesse. Until the end of 2021, this was located at the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sport (HMdIS) (since 2024: Hessian Ministry of the Interior, for Security and Homeland Security, HMdI), both in terms of strategic management and operational organisation and implementation. Since 1 January 2022, the Central Training Department - with its two operational areas of organisation and implementation of training events - has been transferred to the area of responsibility of HöMS as part of the establishment of the new University for Public Management and Security (HöMS). The strategic orientation, conceptual development and fundamental matters of interdepartmental training continue to be the responsibility of the HMdI.
The aim of all training courses offered by the Central Training Centre at HöMS is to support members of the state administration in fulfilling their tasks effectively and efficiently. The practical, interdepartmental measures also serve to promote the exchange of experience between the various areas of work and support the high quality of administrative action.
All measures included in the respective annual programme comply with the standards of the specialist concept for "Quality Management in Hessian Further Training".
