As the central law of economic administrative law, the Trade Regulation Act (GewO) provides a regulatory framework for all trade law activities. This also forms an important basis for public law trade supervision.

Among other things, the GewO regulates

  • the obligation to register a trade
  • trades requiring a licence, such as gambling law and pawnbrokers, security guards, auctioneers and brokers
  • trades requiring supervision, such as travel agencies, partnership brokerage organisations, etc.
  • the travelling trade
  • market and trade fair traffic
  • the trade licence

In addition, there are a large number of ancillary trade laws.

Below you will find administrative regulations, forms and assistance for Hessian Companies. The documents are available for download as PDF files.

Administrative procedures, such as business registration, can be completed conveniently from home with the online application via the Point of Single Contact Hesse (EAH). Further information on the EAH.
