Applying for a permit to transport waste

If you want to transport waste, you must notify the competent authority before starting the activity.

Anyone wishing to transport waste must notify the competent authority before commencing the activity.

A permit is required for the transport of hazardous waste.

The transport permit requirement also applies to international shipments of waste and is therefore also aimed at carriers (including foreign ones) in cross-border traffic.

The regional councils are responsible.

Please contact the environmental department of the Regional Council in whose district your company has its headquarters.

If your company does not have a headquarters or branch office in Germany, you can obtain a transport permit centrally throughout Hesse from the Department of Occupational Safety and Environment of the Darmstadt Regional Council.

You can also complete the procedure electronically via the "Point of Single Contact" or the GADSYS online portal.

A separate platform has been developed for online applications. On the so-called service platform, you can submit your applications electronically and much more!

You are welcome to get your own impression of the application in advance without registering beforehand. To do this, use the simulation. In order to take full advantage of the online application process, you must first register with the online application process.
 

You can apply for the permit in writing using the form or electronically from the competent authority. A qualified electronic signature is not required here.

You can submit the notification using the form provided for this purpose or electronically via the portal of the competent authority.

The environmental departments of the regional councils check and issue transport permits for companies that have their headquarters in the respective service district.

Companies that do not have a head office or branch in Germany can obtain a transport permit centrally throughout Hesse from the Department of Occupational Safety and Environment of the Darmstadt Regional Council.

The electronic submission of advertisements via the web portal is free of charge. Due to the higher administrative burden, a fee of EUR 50 must be charged for the submission of the notification in paper form. This also applies to any changes to the display.

• Examination in case of change of insignificant circumstances

Fees apply according to time spent.
