    Street cleaning obligations
Unfortunately, property owners whose properties are located within built-up areas do not always clean them as required by the bylaws. Perhaps this is because not all property owners are aware of their cleaning obligations. The Giessen municipal cleaning department has therefore summarized the most important information in a leaflet (see "Documents").

    Complaints about street cleaning
Are you dissatisfied with the quality of street cleaning? Please let us know! Unfortunately, we can't always be everywhere at the same time. But we don't want anything to be left lying around or for there to be weeds somewhere ... we don't want that either. Please give us a call or send us an e-mail. We will deal with your matter as quickly as possible.
Whenever you see one of our employees, please speak to them if you have a problem, a comment, a criticism, a suggestion or a question. Misunderstandings or similar issues can often be clarified immediately. And if not, our employees will forward your request to us. We would like to be in contact and communicate with you, even on site.

    One more important note
The hazard prevention ordinance contains a brief but important paragraph relating to street cleaning and winter road maintenance:
    § 6 Roadways and sidewalks
    (1) It is forbidden to place garbage, mud, garbage, snow, ice sheets, sand, gravel and other objects that prevent water from draining onto public roads, gutters, gullies or culverts.
Please observe this paragraph; we also comply with it. Violations may result in severe fines.
