Public libraries are an essential part of the freely accessible information, educational and cultural offerings in our society. They are usually municipal institutions.
No other educational institution reaches such a high proportion of the population of all age, social and educational strata.

A reader pass is required for lending to the reading rooms and home as well as for the use of databases and electronic journals.

The cost of the reader pass varies from library to library. Special services (copies, repro orders, document deliveries, use of the image archive, access to the Internet) are also subject to a charge.
