Apply for an extension of your driving license

If you already have a driver's license, you can add another category to it.

You can add additional categories to your existing driving license.

The requirements depend on the category you wish to apply for.

• An unlimited driving license is issued for categories A, A1, A2, AM, B, BE, L and T.

The responsibility lies with the driving license authorities.

Contact the driving license authority of the district or city in which you have your main residence.

• Identity card or passport, registration certificate if applicable

You must have reached the minimum age required in accordance with Section 10 of the Driving License Ordinance, or may submit the application no earlier than 6 months before reaching the minimum age.

The processing time depends on the application and the workload of the respective driving license authority.

The driving license authority charges fees in accordance with the scale of fees for road traffic measures.
