Auctioning food and perishable goods in the itinerant trade

Would you like to auction food or other perishable products outside your branch? Under certain conditions, you can do this without an auctioneer's license.

    Description

If you want to auction goods commercially, you generally need a so-called auctioneer's license. This is subject to special requirements.

If the products to be auctioned are foodstuffs and other perishable goods and you want to auction them in a traveling trade, you can apply for an exemption.

Perishable goods quickly lose their quality. These include, for example

    • fresh fruit
    • vegetables
    • Fish and meat
    • dairy products
    • Flowers and plants

If food and goods would spoil or lose quality without the auction, the competent authority may grant you an exemption from the auctioning permit.

In order to auction perishable products in a traveling trade, you need a traveling trade permit. This allows you to operate commercially outside your place of business.

    Competent office

The competent authority is the municipal council at the place where the business is carried out.

    Contact point

Contact the trade office of the place where you wish to auction your goods.

    Prerequisites

    • You have a valid travel trade license.
    • Objection
    • Administrative court action

    Costs

If the application is rejected, a fee of 75% of the calculated costs will be charged.

If an application is withdrawn, the fee may be up to 50% of the calculated costs.

The official act can be made dependent on the payment of an appropriate advance. In this case, you will receive a corresponding request for payment after submitting the application. Please note that processing of your application may not begin until any advance payment has been received.
