You must register the keeping of land animals ("land animals" such as birds, land mammals, bees and bumblebees) with the competent veterinary authority. In addition to commercial agricultural animal husbandry, this also applies to purely hobby animal husbandry.

Registration must take place before the activity begins.
Animal husbandry must also be registered with the Hessian Animal Disease Insurance Fund.

If there are any changes to your animal husbandry or if you give up keeping animals, you are obliged to report this to the aforementioned authorities.

The veterinary authority and the Hessian Animal Disease Fund are responsible.
