    Description

    Required documents

    You must enclose the following documents the first time you are granted an examiner's license:

    • Extract from the driving aptitude register of the Federal Motor Transport Authority with attachments.
    • Proof of application for an official driving license, document type O.
    • Informal confirmation (flight instructor, examiner, BfL) that you meet the flying requirements for the examiner authorization applied for.
    • Additionally for powered flight: Valid background check.
    • Meaningful evidence of previous flying activities and flying experience. Letters of recommendation from other persons working in aviation can also be enclosed. (see for example AMC1 FCL.1010)
    • Declarations of pending criminal and fine proceedings, driving license revocation, fines, aircraft accidents

    You must enclose the following documents when extending an existing examiner authorization:

    • Extract from the Federal Motor Transport Authority's driving aptitude register with attachments.
    • Proof of application for an official driving license, document type O.
    • Informal confirmation (flight instructor, examiner, BfL) that you meet the flying requirements for the examiner authorization applied for.
    • Additionally for powered flight: Valid background check.
    • Declarations of pending criminal and fine proceedings, driving license revocation, fines, aircraft accidents

    The following documents must be enclosed when renewing an existing examiner authorization:

    • Proof of 6 practical examinations or proficiency checks or competence assessments carried out.
    • Proof of one of these examinations under supervision in the last year of renewal
    • Certificate of attendance at examiner refresher seminar
    • Declarations of pending criminal and fine proceedings, driving license revocation, fines, aircraft accidents

    You must enclose the following documents when renewing an existing examiner authorization:

    • Competence assessment for examiner authorization
    • Certificate of attendance at examiner refresher seminar in the year prior to renewal
    • Declarations of pending criminal and fine proceedings, driving license revocation, fines, aircraft accidents

    Prerequisites

    • FE (S): FI(S) SPL instructor rating At least 300 flying hours as a pilot on gliders or motor gliders (no TMG), of which at least 150 hours or 300 take-offs flight training.
    • FE (S) TMG: Instructor rating FI(S) SPL TMG At least 300 flight hours as a pilot on sailplanes or powered sailplanes, including at least 50 hours of flight training on TMGs
    • FIE (S): FI(S) SPL instructor rating with the suffix "instructor" At least 500 flight hours as a pilot on gliders, of which at least 10 hours or 30 take-offs during which applicants for an instructor rating were trained.
    • FIE (S): Instructor rating FI(S) SPL with the addition "TMG" and the addition "instructor" At least 500 flight hours as a pilot on gliders, of which at least 10 hours or 30 take-offs during which applicants for an instructor rating were trained on TMGs.
    • FE (A): Examiner for PPL(A): At least 1000 flight hours as a pilot on airplanes or TMG, of which at least 250 hours flight training Instructor rating FI(A) Examiner for LAPL(A): At least 500 flight hours as a pilot on airplanes or TMG, of which at least 100 hours flight training Instructor rating FI(A)
    • CRE(A): Former holder CPL(A), MPL(A) or ATPL(A), currently: holder of a PPL(A) with CRI(A) for the relevant class and at least 500 hours of flight time as a pilot on airplanes (no TMG).
    • FIE (A): At least 2,000 flight hours as a pilot on airplanes or TMG and at least 100 flight hours during which applicants for an instructor rating were trained Instructor rating FI(A) with the suffix "instructor"
    • FE (A) mountain flight: At least 500 flight hours as a pilot on airplanes or TMGs, of which at least 500 take-offs and landings as part of flight training for the mountain flight rating. FI(A) instructor rating with the addition "mountain flight".
