Description
According to the provisions of the Hessian Forest Act, any forest conversion measures require a permit. A distinction must be made between permanent and temporary forest conversion. Any necessary forestry compensation in the form of reafforestation or forest conservation levy shall also be examined by the competent authority in such an approval procedure. Other specialist authorities are also involved in the procedure.

Procedure
The application must be submitted in writing or online to the competent licensing authority, together with the above-mentioned attachments. The authority will then consult all public bodies and, in evaluation of the positions, decide on the possibility of granting the desired permit for forest conversion.

Administrative fees may apply for approval. Administrative fees may also apply in the event of a negative decision.
