If you cannot be issued a death certificate after reporting a death due to missing data, you can have the death report certified.

This certificate serves as proof that you have complied with your duty to notify.

With the certificate you can prove the proper notification of the death. The report is a prerequisite for the burial of the deceased person.

Please contact the competent registry office to which you have made the death notification.

There are no required documents.

• You must report the death to the registry office in whose district the death occurred.
• The certification of the death reported by you must have been postponed by the competent registry office due to missing data or evidence.

You can apply for the certificate of notification and deferral of the certification orally or in writing at the registry office.

• Submit the application for the issuance of the certificate to the competent registry office.
• The registry office will check your details and, if necessary, issue the certificate.
• The registry office will send you the certificate of notification by post, unless personal collection has been arranged.
