Request technical assistance

State and local authorities responsible for emergency response can request support from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) as part of administrative assistance (administrative assistance request). Other authorities can request technical support from the THW.

The Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) has technical equipment and expert emergency personnel for special emergency and damage situations.

If personnel, technical or logistical support is required, the local and state authorities responsible for emergency response in particular can request technical support from the THW. This is usually done via the responsible control center.

The THW is set up and organized uniformly throughout Germany. Contact persons are available at all levels. Operations are also conceivable in which the THW sets up its own command center (for example, if a separate operational section is transferred to the THW). If required, the THW will send professionally qualified advisory personnel to the staffs of the authorities responsible for emergency response and to the incident command.

Such decisions are made depending on the specific operational situation and should not be anticipated in a service description.

If the Federal Agency for Technical Relief is to support other authorities and agencies, this is usually done as administrative assistance. To request support from the THW, authorities and responsible agencies can either contact the THW directly or contact the local fire department control center.

The THW may charge fees and/or expenses for THW missions in accordance with the applicable THW billing regulations (THWAbrV).
