Restaurants: temporary operation on special occasions

Anyone who would like to start a restaurant business (serving trolley, beer tent, etc.) at short notice on a special occasion (e.g. folk festival, music event) must notify the competent authority in writing no later than 4 weeks before the start of the event . However, the special occasion must not lie solely in the gastronomic activity itself.

In the display are

• the surname and forename of the trader with an address capable of being summoned;
• the place and period during which the restaurant business was carried on,
• the food and drink to be administered, and
• the expected number of visitors

If the event takes place in rooms, building regulations may have to be observed.

You can also complete the procedure electronically via the Point of Single Contact. A separate platform has been developed for online applications. The fee is based on the administrative costs regulation for the business area of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport and Regional Development (VwKostO-MWEVL). Their amount shall be at least:

The notification of the temporary operation of a restaurant business is sent to the competent lower building supervisory authority, the competent lower food control authority, the tax authority and the police authority.
