Life certificate for submission to the pension insurance

As proof, the pension insurance may require a life certificate from you. This is an official document, which is issued by the competent authority on request.
 

Registration authority or the competent citizens' office of the city or municipal administration of your place of residence

• Identity card or passport
• in the case of a written application: informal application
• if applicable, further documents on request

You can apply for the life certificate in person at the competent authority.

If you are unable to visit the competent office (e.g. for health reasons), send an informal application and enclose copies of the required documents. The certificate will then be sent to you.

The life certificate is usually issued immediately upon personal application.

In the case of written application and notification, the issue of the certificate may take a few days.

• Life certificate for the purposes of statutory pension insurance: free of charge.
• As proof for foreign pension insurance institutions and for private insurance (e.g. company pensions): fee-based
  • In the case of written requests, the fee must be transferred to the account of the authority to which you submit your request.
